“Once more into the fray.

Into the last good fight I’ll ever know

Live and die on this day

Live and die on this day”

  John Ottway in The Grey

In today's issue, I’m going to bridge a topic that has nothing to do with the Car Business but everything to do with the people in it.

I hope it hits home for at least one of you.

In 2018 I went on the scariest quest that exists

With no Map, Tour Guide or GPS

An expedition into myself...

I had recently succeeded in a major initiative that should have been the cause for celebration and happiness. I had created something out of nothing that solved a major problem in my industry. Heavy profits and recognition were assured

I felt NOTHING.  Complete APATHY

If I had failed. I think I would have felt the same.

Something had to change. I was wasting a good life and I knew it.

The Car Business, and the unique pressures within it. Can create Zombies.

I know you all know what I’m talking about.

So, I embarked on a mission of self-discovery

I spent countless weeks, days, and hours turning over rocks and poking hornets' nests in my memory. It was not very much fun.

I read books, watched videos, took personality tests, spoke to experts, you name it I did it. Lots of quiet time, reflection and dark moments, lotsa tears

It all starts with a Mirror

Peering into yourself at first is like looking into a black hole. You have things so deeply buried and hidden in your psyche. Nothing is in plain sight or easily accessed.

Ego is not your friend!!

At first you think….

“Meh  There's nothing to see here”

Then your eyes adjust to the darkness and it’s like you start to see all these eyeballs illuminate.

Like a pack of wolves staring at you from the tree line on a dark night. ðŸ˜±

Everywhere you look…sinister eyeballs represent the experiences that shaped you.

The wolves are past versions of you looking right into your soul (because they know they control you and they are hungry for more)

You have to just walk out into that treeline and fight. Over and over again.

Those fights are about finding and facing the trauma, unpacking it until you understand, accepting it, and then forgiving yourself or others involved. Total forgiveness

Yeah, you get pretty banged up in the process. Wolves are tough as fuck and these ones know every move you’re gonna make.

Once you find their weak spots things start to move along pretty quickly. You get good at it and become able to pick them off one after another until the big Alphas are all dispatched.

The next step for me was to find resources to understand who I had become and what made me tick.

Once I had cleared the slate I could start to build "Bob 2.0"

These efforts helped me identify my personal Core Values.

  • Freedom
  • Curiosity
  • Innovation
  • Growth
  • Impact
  • Grit

When you have faced your past traumas and figured out who you really are. You can start to live your life in complete congruence with your purpose. Make all your decisions using your value system as a guide.

This is where you will find fulfillment

By creating this newsletter and community for you is an example of doing something I believe I am supposed to do.

“Impact” people in a positive way.

Openly share my experiences, resources, and connections in hopes of helping others in need.

If any of this resonated with you and you’d like a complete blueprint of the steps that I took and all the resources I used during this process I will create one.  Respond  to this email and say “Send me the Blueprint” 📩
