Everybody knows that ALL vehicles from the Northern States are rusted out shit buckets. And the absolute worst of the worst come from Canada, Right?
It’s no secret….Every dealer has seen a bad one from Polar Bear Country at the sale. You’ve all heard of dealers that have been stuck with one they couldn’t sell. Right??
Just like every damn truck from Oklahoma has hail damage. Am I right??
📍Florida….Sun Damaged
📍Louisiana ….Flood Cars
📍Oregon, Washington…..Smell like weed
📍Georgia….Can’t get a title
📍Alabama….Red clay caked on everything. (Roll Tide…Don’t give a piss about nothin but the Tide!!)
I could go on and on.
How about this one??
2004-2006 Ford Powerstroke 6.0 Diesel? Every single one was Head gasket garbage. Right?
Red Heads….Crazy
Blondes….Fun
It never ends
These are all examples of a phenomenon called “Un-Conscious Bias…..Stereotypes”
Experience + Social Conditioning + How the brain works = Unconscious Bias.
This all relies on instinct instead of analysis. So it’s no surprise that conclusions are often incorrect and most times are extremely limiting.
Some are, but in reality….Most aren’t
Sometimes, Like in the case of the 6.0 L Powerstroke. A remedy is widely accepted and a new Unconscious Bias is created.
Every Car dealer knows the 6.0 is a run forever tank once it's been “BulletProofed” (Right? A whole new Bias)
OK
Back to the Canadian Rust Cans
Here’s a few stats
- Every year 450,000 or so late model vehicles are exported from Canada to the United States.
- The vast majority of those are still in Basic Warranty . 3 years old or newer
- Greater than 30% of Canada's population is in Southern Ontario
-another 60 % lives within a 2 hour drive of the US border
- Of 450,000 approx 450,000 get sold
Does some surface rust start to form on many of these units?
OF COURSE it does. And Some of them are REALLY bad.
All 450,000? The newer ones too?? Ummmm … No
Most of the newer stuff has a little surface brown. Like a cast iron skillet that wasn’t dried properly.
“OK Bob…..How do I bulletproof the surface rust???”
I’m glad you asked
It’s called the “5 Step Proprietary Rust Remediation Process” aka The Can-Am 5 Step.
- HOIST
- Powerwash/Dry
- Hammer Taps/Wire Brush
- Powerwash/Dry
- RattleCan flat black paint
I created the 5-Step while selling in South Carolina years ago (The pickiest dealers on the planet)
Selling went from “Hell no” to “Does it already have the 5-Step?” (UB FLIP)
Worked like a charm. The problem was . It was temporary and more of a cover-up, Lipstick on a pig kinda deal.
Covering up the Salt doesn’t solve the problem
I decided to find a better way. A way that would last
Flash Forward to today
Can-Am Dealer Services found and has partnered with a Custom Coatings and Chemical Manufacturing company from Houston Texas
They produce an Eco Friendly Product that breaks down the chemical makeup of the salt and then it just washes away. All that is left behind is a protective barrier (Science)
The product was originally created to solve salt issues related to Southern Coastal living and Marine activity
Salt is Salt just like Math is Math
The New Can-Am 5 Steps are the same but now utilize this Eco Friendly, Ph Neutral compound to actually REMOVE the Canada salt and prep the surface for a final coat that will last.
If you have a hoist , a hose, a moderately skilled detail guy and the Can-Am 5 Step kits you can get it like new underneath for a few hundred bucks!!
You can read about the product here www.saltsgone.com
If you’d like a complete guide on how to do “the Can-Am 5-Step” start to finish, I will share it with you at no charge and also get you a discount code for the kit,
Just reply to this email with “5-Step”
Then tell all your Dealer buddies to be careful with those Previous Canadian Rust Buckets……so you can buy them all! |
